BRIEF HISTORY

Baseball was introduced to Nigeria by the American Peace Corps between 1960 and 1966 but ceased during the Civil War. In 1989, the Nigerian Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA) was formed to revive the sport, collaborating with international and national organizations like the World Little League and the Nigerian Olympic Committee. Baseball and softball gained recognition in Africa through the African Baseball and Softball Association, becoming medal sports. Nigeria achieved silver medals in the All Africa Games in 1999 and 2003, establishing itself as second only to South Africa in African baseball and softball.
